At 66 years of age, Dave Noble is a championship swimmer. Last summer, at the Long Coarse Nationals in Indianapolis Indiana, Dave placed Second in the 200 yard Breast Stroke, and held a ranking of 2nd in the USA in the 200 meter Short Coarse Butterfly, competing against swimmers from all over the world. Dave is ranked in the top 10 in the world with FINA in 7 events, for 2008 & 2009.
Yet just five years ago Dave was a typical 61 year old, enjoying the quiet life but wondering where his energy and fitness had gone. Then two things happened: the death of his mother at age 93, and seeing the Barbara Walters TV special on Resveratrol.
"It really was a wake up call," Dave says. "My mother at age 66 could climb a 40ft rope to the top of the gym. She was a former PE teacher and just needed to prove that she could, once she'd retired. But this was not what motivated me to begin exercising. That didn't happen until I received a Christmas card addressed to my mom some 9 months after she had passed."
Dave continues, "I felt compelled to call the person who sent the card to let him know of her passing. During this conversation the man on the other end said that he was in my mother's graduating class from college. Talking with him was as easy as speaking to someone in their 30’s, but he was 93. I asked him how he had remained so spry all these years. During the next few minutes he told me how he exercised at least 1 hour every day, 5 days a week."
"I needed to get in shape for retirement."
By now Dave was thinking about good health and retirement. Having started his career selling Boats, for the past 30 years he has run his own computer business. But talking to his mother's childhood friend, Dave realized that he still had a lot to look forward to ... and he needed to get in shape for the journey ahead.
"The final piece of the puzzle came when I was watching the Barabara Walters show one night," Dave says. "She was reviewing this 'miracle molecule' called Resveratrol which scientists were saying had a whole range of health benefits. The program showed an interview with Dr Sinclair, a pioneer in Resveratrol research."
"In the program, Doctor Sinclair had done studies on rats that were given Resveratrol, but didn't mention which brand. Well, it took me a month of searching the Internet and even emailing Dr Sinclair's laboratory before I found out that he was using Transmax from Biotivia. That was good enough for me, so I got on Biotivia's website and ordered my first bottle of the half strength Bioforte.
"Something special was giving me energy."
As soon as my Bioforte arrived I began taking 2 Bioforte capsules a day. This gave me the runs, but I kept it up and after about 2 weeks the symptoms went away. I found that I was sleeping better and one month later I swam in my first competition at the Senior Games in Columbia, Mo."
"I was so nervous that I could barely contain myself. I won the 50 yards breaststroke and 100 yards breaststroke. During the 200 yard breaststroke event I noticed one guy out in front. I was not too concerned because I figured that I would catch up. At the 5th lap I realized that I needed to pick it up. He was still ahead at the 6th lap so I pulled out all the stops. I made the 7th turn even with him. I sprinted the last lap and beat him by 1 sec."
Dave grins at the memory: "Later I discovered that I had beaten someone who was 14 years younger and he had swum his best time. During that race I had an abundance of energy for the 6,7 & 8th lap. Something special was giving me the energy, and it was Resveratrol."

"Now I feel like I'm in my 30's again."
Since starting with Bioforte, Dave has slowly increased his Resveratrol regime. We caught up with him after his success in the Saint Louis swimming masters to see how he was getting along with Resveratrol.
"At the beginning I started taking more Resveratrol, but changed to Transmax, which has twice the Trans-Resveratrol, and does not have the laxative effect that some people find with Bioforte. By the way, I tell people to start with Bioforte but only take one a day. The cleansing effect plus the other antioxidants make it the best over all supplement for your money."
"Some time ago I added Omega 3 fish oil with the Transmax because Resveratrol is not very water soluble and the fish oil helps the body tissues to absorb it. Now I take two Transmax, two Bio Forge, two Bio Quench and two Bio Span every day, so you could say I'm a firm believer in Resveratrol. Next I'm going to try Biotivia's new vegetarian Omega 3 instead of fish-based oil, as sometimes I could taste the fish after the capsule had dissolved in my stomach."
And what about the effect on his swimming? Dave replies, "I have been swimming 80 laps per day 7 days a week and feel like I am in my 30’s. My coordination has improved, as well as my memory. I am ranked in the top 10 with USMS in 15 events, + 5 more that are relays. Other times that I have posted should bring this to 20 events in the top 10 by the end of 2010. I have found that taking the two Transmax, 90 minutes before exercise, works best for me."
"It's never too late to get healthy."
What does the future hold? Dave says, "I have learned so much about swimming that I did not know as a college swimmer and former YMCA National Champion. If I had a young body now I would do things differently, and would of taken care of myself throughout my life."
"I would never tell anyone it is too late. It is never too late. I would tell you that the first 100 laps were the hardest, and that after 10 days of 10 laps a day, everything became easier. After about 2 months I became driven to work out every day, and I look forward to it."
"Now I have new goals on how long I will live. I have started going to the doctor to get things checked out. I believe that Resveratrol will cut down on DNA errors and help to stave off cancer, but I have two checks a year to be sure I do not get skin, throat, colon or prostate cancer."

"Now my friends are taking Resveratrol too."
Dave hasn't kept his enthusiasm for Resveratrol to himself. His wife, Dana, takes Transmax and still goes to aerobics three times a week. Dave says she is as fit as she was 30 years ago. But Dave says his children, aged 24 and 27, don't take Resveratrol. "They still feel invincible," Dave replied, "like we all do at that age.”
Dave likes telling the story of his golfing friend who used to feel exhausted by the 12th hole. "I recommended he try Transmax and now he flies round all 18 holes without any problem." He also recommended Bioforte to an 85 year old lady who suffered from lack of energy late in the day, and now she has more energy all day.
So what about his own healthy future? Dave replies, "I think of myself like an old car: I need more maintenance, but I can keep going longer if I do the preventive things. Transmax is one of those things."
And does he really believe the Resveratrol is helping, or is it just the exercise that is making him feel so great? "It is definitely down to the Resveratrol," Dave replies emphatically.
"I went swimming 3 times last week and was putting in some hard sessions and was getting really tired before I finished and realized it was due to the fact that I had forgotten to take my Transmax. The next day, 90 minutes before my workout, I took two Transmax and did 4000 yards in 1 hour and 5 mins and was not feeling tired at all, so this has to be down to the Resveratrol."
