Vegetarian Omega 3 oil launched as solution to rising fish oil pollution.

(New York, NY) A recent independent consumer laboratory test from a major organization showed that 100% of fish-oil Omega 3 supplements purchased contained heavy metals or toxins. Many of the samples in the independent study were also rancid, even though the products analysed were well within their best before date.

“That comes as no surprise,” said James Betz, CEO of herbal supplement specialist Biotivia. “The seas are being used as a dumping ground for toxic waste, including carcinogenic PCBs, dioxin lead and mercury. Farmed fish - a source for most fish oil supplements - have even higher levels of toxins, plus they are fed on an artificial diet which often includes antibiotics and hormones and what are called ‘trash fish’, thus adding to the depletion of ocean fish.

Betz was speaking at the launch of Green Omega 3, a new vegetarian omega 3 - DHA supplement. Green Omega 3 contains seven natural ingredients: Swiss Martek algae DHA oil, Peruvian Salba oil, cranberry oil, green tea extract, sesame lignan extract, raw beeswax and resveratrol.

Developed in collaboration with Pfizer - one of the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical companies - Green Omega 3 provides an Omega 3 and DHA-rich source of the essential fatty acids needed for brain health and development, and heart health and protection from cardio-vascular disease. Just one of the ingredients, the Peruvian Salba oil, has up to eight times more DHA Omega 3 than salmon, without any of the toxins, heavy metals, dioxin, pesticides, and other ocean-borne contaminants.

Spoilage is a serious and widespread problem with fish and krill oil supplements. One expert stated that almost all such products were actually rancid while still on the store shelf.
Green Omega 3 does not become rancid. It’s active life exceeds 24 months, even at room temperature.

Betz revealed that Green Omega 3 has taken three years to develop. We wanted to design a complete heart and brain health supplement, not simply a replacement for old fashioned fish oil. “The blend of ingredients has a uniquely synergistic effect,” he stated. For example, the sesame lignan has the ability to direct omega oils to where they are needed, while the beeswax has been added to provide a natural time-release effect for increased bioavailability. Resveratrol has also been the subject of over 5,500 medical research programs, many of which were studies into cardio, cognitive and joint inflammation. Those are exactly the reasons people buy Omega 3 supplements.”

Green Omega 3 is supplied in a 60-serving bottle. The Pfizer li-cap capsules are completely vegetarian. Biotivia’s packaging prevents oxidation. Green Omega 3 is available from the biotivia.com website, from leading US retailers, and from Amazon in Europe.
